9 organisations urge Scottish Government to ban farrowing crates 05-08-24

In July, we sent a letter to the Minister for Agriculture and Connectivity, Jim Fairlie, urging that the Scottish Government consults as soon as possible for a phase out of farrowing crates.

While we commended the Government for its proposal to eliminate cages for egg-laying hens, we also held the Government accountable for the exclusion of farrowing crates from its proposal. This omission is notable, especially considering the Government's previous pledge to consult on the phase out of farrowing crates, as stated in its Programme for Government 2021-2022.

The letter, co-ordinated by OneKind, was signed by 9 organisations, including animal welfare charities and organisations working for more sustainable farming practices.

In these terms and conditions, the following capitalised words shall have the following meanings:

f. All prices on this Website are in Pound Sterling “£” and may change at any time. All prices are shown inclusive of VAT at the current rate, where relevant. d. These Terms set out the entire agreement between you and OneKind and supersede any and all prior terms, conditions, warranties and/or representations to the fullest extent permitted by law. Any delay or failure by OneKind to exercise any right we may have under these Terms shall not constitute a waiver by us of that right.

By donating to OneKind via text message you agree to have the donation sum and the cost of a standard text message added to your ‘pay monthly’ mobile phone bill or deducted from your ‘pay as you go’ mobile phone credit.

These terms and conditions of supply shall be governed by the laws of Scotland and shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Scotland.

10. Returns and deliveries policy

a. Delivery
We endeavour to fulfil all deliveries in 10 working days, but in some cases, it may be up to 21 days.
All risk in the Products you order (including risk of loss and/or damage to the Products) shall pass to you when they are delivered to the delivery address specified in your order.
We shall be under no liability for any delay or failure to deliver Products if the delay or failure is wholly or partly caused by circumstances beyond our control. We shall be under no liability for any delay or failure to deliver Products via UK Next Working Day Delivery if the delay or failure is due to the recipient not being available at the specified delivery address to sign for the Products.

pigs have emotions as we do, they suffer as we do. as a woman, the thought of being confined to a metal crate before delivering my baby would make me terribly stressed, confined to a space away from the outdoors. it's bad enough to endure the pain of labor,, along with laying on metal and not knowing why. it's horrific to know that humans don't give a damn about the feelings of our fellow creatures. naomi

As a privileged person with enough land to have rescued pigs, this is something that tears me apart when I know how mine love to run, play, wallow and have their tummies scratched. I beg anyone with the power to help, please do so and end their suffering. Thank you from me and my happy hogs.
